Sun City Civic Association residents can learn about various types of elder abuse—including how to report it and how to prevent becoming a victim—at a free presentation from Guest Speaker Larry Berenato, Tuesday, July 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in North Town Hall at the Sun City Civic Association—26850 Sun City Blvd, Sun City, CA, 92586.
Larry Berenato, with the Riverside County Department of Public Social Services, is coordinator for the C.A.R.E. Program (Curtailing Abuse Related to the Elderly). Berenato will discuss scams that target seniors and address identity theft, fraud and other types of elder abuse. His presentation runs about 30 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session. Hand-outs will be available.
“People who are aware of scams are more likely to avoid becoming a victim,” said Berenato. “Additionally, if someone becomes a victim of any kind of elder abuse, we want people to know who to contact”. Please be assured all reports of Elder Abuse of any kind will be kept completely confidential.

Community Action Partnership of Riverside County is coordinating Cool Centers!
Cool Centers are drop-in sites for vulnerable individuals, seniors, the disabled, and others in need of temporary relief from the heat. They will open to the public, in affected areas, when the County Department of Public, Health issues a “Heat Warning”.
