The SCCA and the City have received many complaints and phone calls regarding a company named “Curb Rite Addressing Services” who have gone ahead painting many of the curb addresses of SCCA homes without Sun City Civic Association, SCCA Resident or City permission. (Note: The streets and curbs are public, so the SCCA has nothing to do with this matter whatsoever.)
After rendering their curb address painting services onto SCCA Residents they have proceeded to “ask” for $20.00 “donations” from each home and sometimes have become very hostile to residents who did not pay the “$20.00 donation fee” immediately.
Please be informed that, per the City of Menifee Code Enforcement Dept., Curb Rite Addressing Services do not have an encroachment permit to do anything on the public right away without first obtaining permission from the City's public works and/or engineering department(s). Even for the licensed company, nobody is obligated to pay for services rendered.
All citizens should always ask to see a business license and if they can’t provide a copy of the business license and are asking for donations, the City advises you to contact police. Also please be aware that no other company has been authorized by the City to paint curbs within Menifee.
If you or a fellow neighbor is approached by this business please contact the Police or City Code Enforcement, Donna Burks at 951-679-6777 ext. 160 immediately to make a report. Please be aware of this business, inform your neighbors and most importantly BE SAFE!
City of Menifee announces: Grant money available for eligible seniors and disabled residents for minor home improvements!
Low-income seniors ages 62 years and older, permanently disabled homeowners, or homeowners with a disabled family member who resides in the home full time, are encouraged to apply to the City of Menifee for a Minor Home Rehabilitation Grant. The grants are for projects and repairs to make homes accessible, safe and healthy.
Homeowners who meet the required income and asset criteria specified within the program guidelines may apply to receive a one-time grant of up to $10,000 for eligible repairs and improvements.
Eligible improvements include: improvements to bathrooms, kitchens, and entrances which will specifically assist the elderly and disabled persons; safety improvements to roofs, windows, electrical systems, plumbing, bathrooms, and stairways; and the correction of code violations.
These grants are part of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which provides local government with funding specifically dedicated to services and/or projects to benefit low and moderate income persons. Menifee will grant $120,000 per year to qualified applicants, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
An eligibility and application guidelines information booklet outlining eligible repairs and eligibility criteria, as well as the required application with completion instructions, is available at Menifee City Hall, 29714 Haun Road, Menifee, CA 92586.
