2020 Accomplishments

While the first few months of 2020 were good, the remaining year saw the Association shut down for indoor activities due to the pandemic by state and local mandates.  However, the pools, horseshoes, lawn bowling and outdoor gym reopened with some requirements beginning June 15.

During the year, the campus still required upkeep and maintenance, such as the pool maintenance, landscape, repairs and/or replacements/enhancements; some of which were overdue.

Attached to this article, please find a list of accomplishments in 2020, which we hope provides some insight on what has been completed while the pandemic was in effect.

We hope that things change in 2021 so that we may reopen once again.

We wish you a safe and happy 2021!

Ham and Fixins Holiday Dinner

The “Ham and Fixins” meal delivery event developed very quickly. A sponsorship from T-Mobile was finalized on December 11th and word went out to the Members of Sun City Civic Association using all available communications channels. Then, on December 22nd, 700 meals were delivered by hearty volunteers to SCCA Members.

Mary Ann Weigner spoke for many people when she said “I want to thank you, Sun City Civic Association and T-Mobile … It was not only a great gesture, but it was delicious right down to the last crumb of the dinner roll and spoonful of peach cobbler. I truly appreciated the meal. As so many other families, I cancelled my plans to fly to my daughter's for Xmas celebration with my grandchildren, who are upset because I cancelled Thanksgiving, as well, on them…”

SCCA is very thankful to all who made this event possible, including T-Mobile and the volunteers who took over the streets spreading holiday cheer. We look forward to the time when we can, again, enjoy a festive meal together, a meal unburdened by the numerical limitations of a meal delivery event.

Happy Holidays!
